Southold Bay Oysters - Oyster Farm Tour & Tasting on Memorial Day 

Learn the process of farming fresh oysters at a working aquaculture farm. Tour describes the spawning process used at the hatchery during the first phase of an oyster's life. You will then experience a demonstration of the oyster grow-out phase and the gear used to farm market size oysters. Tour concludes with a water front tasting of our Southold Shindig oysters paired with a local wine.

The Ultimate Farm to Food Truck Experience - brought to you by Slow Food East End! Enjoy a late spring afternoon strolling the fields of 8 Hands Farm with owners Carol Festa and her husband, Thomas Geppel, who will discuss their philosophy of sustainability and animal welfare. Slow Food Members and Friends will have an opportunity to meet and greet the sheep, pigs and chickens of 8 Hands Farm and leave with a better understanding of how they are raised and cared for. 


The farm tour will be followed by a fixed menu tasting from the 8 Hand Farm Food Truck run by chefs Carly and Jonathan Copeland. The menu will feature 8 Hands raised meats and fresh produce (depending of what's in season) from the farm. Price includes seasonal menu tasting, a non-alcoholic beverage and 10% discount on purchases at the Farm Store (on the day of the event only).

You are invited to an Open House at LIHREC - Everyone is welcome and admission is FREE. 

The gorgeous display gardens will be in full bloom and open all day, and we will offer guided garden tours throughout the day. We will also offer special seminars, activities for children, and a plant sale. If you would like to know what else is happening at our 68 acre research farm, hop on the hay wagon and check it out.
