We are stewards of the land

  • LIFB provides local, grassroots regional leadership for the Long Island Agricultural Community
  • We understand our responsibilities to society and make positive contributions to the greater Long Island Community
  • Farm Bureau is about preserving Long Island’s remaining open land and beautiful vistas through voluntary preservation programs
  • Our members respect private property rights – the American Way of Life
  • We actively promote tourism within our region, including "agri-tainment" (ever been to a pick-your-own, a strawberry festival, or pumpkin-pickin' festivals in Fall?)
  • LIFB members make significant economic contributions to the Long Island region
  • LIFB members are committed to preserving and protecting our environment
  • We utilize sound scientific principles in member use of state-of-the-art pest control technologies and methodologies
  • We work with other organizations committed to the conservation of Long Island’s open spaces
  • One of our primary missions is to preserve Long Island's remaining rural way-of-life and preserve the 300 year legacy of rural Long Island
  • As an organization, and working with other organiztions, we are committed to the promotion of Best Management Practices for LI growers, fisherfolk and farm producers
  • LIFB promotes and supports intelligent, balanced legislation and regulation for the common good - to our local communities better places to work and raise a family
  • LIFB members can’t do this alone – they cooperate with and invite the support of neighbors, public officials and like-minded organizations to address critical issues for the future, such as:

       - Farm lands and open space preservation

       - Alternative energy sources to meet future power needs

       - Intelligent electric power line rights-of-way policies

       - Transfer Development Rights (TDRs)

       - Master Planning and Zoning

       - Suffolk County and town purchase of farmland development rights

       - Worker housing

       - Farmland worker issues

       - Farm stand marketing

       - Agri-zoning and land use issues
