Support Long Island Farm Bureau
Dear Farm Bureau Supporter,
Farming is a year-round activity and the same can be said for Long Island Farm Bureau’s work. If you have already sent in your 2023 New York Farm Bureau member dues, thank you. But it is worth noting that only a portion of Farm Bureau dues directly support activities on Long Island. Unlike most county farm bureaus, we are fortunate to have staff devoted to local concerns. This takes financial resources and there are mounting financial challenges to maintaining LIFB’s effectiveness. We ‘do a lot with relatively little’ but are seeking your support and ask that you consider a special contribution to support LIFB in 2023.
The last several years have been challenging for agriculture, but LIFB’s efforts have helped local farms survive and thrive. Our advocacy for local agriculture is constant and only happens because of friends like you who recognize the value that Long Island farms bring to the region’s economy, environment, lifestyle, and future. Just a few of the many activities in 2022 included:

-
Meeting with more than 60 State and County officials on issues facing farmers.
-
Hosting State officials including the Governor and Commissioner of Agriculture and Markets.
-
Interfacing with local agricultural committees on issues in townships.
-
Fostering aquaculture industry by advocating for science-based policies and regulations.
-
Coordinating local response to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.
-
Responding to individual member concerns from local farm operations.

All this work takes an incredible amount of effort and time, most of it ‘behind-the-scenes’. The Board of Directors represents the diversity of local agriculture and devotes considerable volunteer time and effort. But at the heart of LIFB’s effectiveness lies a dedicated and talented staff that responds to local member need. Thanks again for your past and continued support of local agriculture and Long Island Farm Bureau. It is truly a ‘grassroots’ effort that pays dividends now and for future generations!
